Summer Along the Shore – June 28, 2013 – August 31, 2013

“Summer Along the Shore” at Susan Powell Fine Art conjures up summers spent in the sun on the shore. From Maine to Connecticut, the New England coast has attracted many who enjoy fresh sea breezes and sand between their toes. Breathtaking views of rocky coasts, shorelines shimmering with warm light, sunlit marshes, picturesque harbors, have all been an essential subject matter to American plein air painting. Plein Air painting is a revered Connecticut tradition which began in Cos Cob and Old Lyme in the late 19th century. 20 nationally exhibited studio and plein air artists are well represented in the show and capture in rich detail the beauty and atmosphere of the landscape and water with a spirit and spontaneity. 80 paintings will be for sale, and many are local views of Madison.

Participating artists include Kathy Anderson, Del-Bourree Bach, Ira Barkoff, Peter Bergeron, Karen Blackwood, Lou Bonamarte , Dan Brown, Sandy Garvin, Vincent Giarrano, Susan Jositas, Roxann Poppe Leibenhaut, James Magner, Leonard Mizerek, Michael Naples, Cora Ogden, Polly Seip, Dennis Sheehan, Katherine Simmons, George Van Hook and Carolyn Walton.
