Cloudscapes
This dynamic exhibition celebrates artists who paint cloudscapes through direct observation, responding to shifting light and weather as the sky unfolds. Some works are painted outdoors, while others begin as oil sketches made on site and are later developed into larger paintings in the studio. Working in this way reuires speed, intuition, and acute awareness as clouds move by the minute. This sense of immediacy is reflected in confident brushwork and clear value relationships, with warm and cool tones used to shape form and create atmosphere. Each work carries the physical sensation of standing outdoors, watching the sky evolve, offering a powerful reminder of how immediacy can heighten expression and deepen our experience of landscape through rhythm, movement and light.
Participating artists include: Thomas Adkins, Del-Bourree Bach, Paul Beebe, Peter Bergeron, David Dunlop, Marc Hanson, Tom Hughes, Jonathan McPhillips, Cora Ogden, Jeanne Rosier Smith, Kyle Stuckey, George Van Hook, and Katie Swatland.
Opening Reception: Friday, April 17, 5-8 pm. Join us for wine, hors d'oeuvres, and meet the artists.
